IT Helpdesk Intern(at least 3 days per week)

Location: Shanghai

Position Overview:
The Information Services (IS) Customer Support & Services team is seeking for potential contract candidates talented and motivated support professionals for a challenging opportunity to deliver phone-based technical support. The successful candidate will be part of a close-knit team that communicates frequently to achieve both individual and group objectives. This candidate will be able to solve challenging problems through creativity, research and teamwork, and will be responsible for providing support via the telephone, through the use of remote tools and in person.

Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:
1.support for desktop hardware/software, mainframe, remote connectivity, sales force application
2.troubleshooting/resolving PC operational and network issues
3.providing software usage expertise for Merck standard desktop applications and operating systems

Opportunities exist to learn Merck critical business applications and provide support for them. Additional functions of the position include contributing to our global knowledge base, following-up with clients and interacting with all areas of IS to pursue appropriate resolutions to customer requests.

Qualifications:
1.Bachelors degree in Information Technology (IT) or related field
2.Effective communications skills, written and interpersonal
3.Strong analytical and problem solving skills
4.Ability to interpret customer needs and provide thorough and complete support is paramount
5.Demonstrated service orientation and flexibility in a team environment

Qualifications include proficient typing skills and a solid knowledge of Desktop technologies (Microsoft Office Applications, Windows XP, TCP/IP networking, terminal emulation, SMS, MSI and PC hardware and peripherals). Shift flexibility is required. Schedules may vary from month to month beginning as early as 8 am and ending as late as 9pm depending on shift assigned. Helpdesk and/or Deskside support experience is desirable. Experience with supporting Sales Force Automation systems (such as GeneSys, Siebel or Dendrite) and PDAs is preferable.   Ability to read and write in English is required.
